When Should Hedges Be Cut?
The best times for a good hedge trim are late spring (May/June) and again in late summer (August/September). These two cuts will keep most hedges looking tidy year-round. For fast-growing varieties like leylandii or privet, a third mid-summer cut can make all the difference.
It's worth noting that major cutting back should be avoided between March and August, as birds may be nesting in your hedges.
